Even the beasts of the fields, rivers and firmament have a formidable arsenal of tooth and claw, venom and fire. As in the creation of the main characters in the story and the enemies which they will face, often it is necessary for the lead player to find the capacity that a particular animal, wild or otherwise, might have in an attack or in defending itself. The following is a short list of the typical giftings possessed by most beasts, but is not intended to limit the what animals in your particular story are capable of. It should be noted, that although beasts are capable of being possessed by spiritual beings and therefore endowed by all that beings abilities, animals of the Lost World are, in fact, a part of the existing fossil record or simple large, hairy, tusked versions of the shrunken animals we know today (with the exception of the rare hybrid chimeras birthed by angelic experimentation). It is important for the LP to maintain a sense of realism and even Biblical accuracy when devising animal encounters for the heroes. A magical, two—headed, talking rust monster will not serve setting or the grounded and relatively believable story line.
